Better than I remembered

A lot of people give this movie a hard time for cutting the most out, and for awhile I agreed with that. However after slowly watching each film in prep for the new Fantastic Beasts I'm beginning to see the unique asepcets each film brought, and yes this one did have some. First of all the cinematography was outstanding. It really understood it's tone clearly and nailed the beats of the book, it has humor, the romance, and of course the horror of what's to come in this story. The one key aspect they got right is the realtionship aspect. Does Hermonie like Harry too, does Ron like Hermonie back, or Ginny and Harry and so on. It shows how humanized they are and even though they still live in a world that's different from ours, it's really not so different in some ways.

I completely agree. I've been rewatching all the movies in IMAX for the marathon event this week, just finished 5 & 6 tonight. I think after tonight I can say HBP is now maybe my second or third favorite in the series. PoA is still my favorite though. But I completely agree on the relationship part. They really explored them in this movie, more than I ever noticed before. And there's some parts that are just in your face obvious, and then some other more subtle parts.

And the cinematography was great as you said. Story flowed together really nicely. I also loved the character development of both Draco and Tom Riddle as well. Just an overall great movie.

OotP on the other hand for me was a little bit more boring than I recalled. That also may have been because I was tired, but HBP was on after it and that still kept me on the edge of my seat the whole movie, even though it wasn't my first time seeing it.

I just rewatched it. It's not lower tier Potter at all. It used to be my least favorite but now I have to update my list:
1. Deathly Hallows
2. Prisoner of Azkaban
3. Chamber of Secrets
4. Half-Blood Prince
5. Order of the Phoenix
6. Goblet of Fire
7. Sorcerer's Stone
