Anyone feel that Snape being "the Half-Blood Prince" was kind of weak?

Let me explain. I have no problem with the Half-Blood Prince being Snape. Actually, I thought it was kind of cool. I just didn't like HOW he was the Half-Blood. The whole movie (and book) portrays the Half-Blood Prince as being someone really cool, deep, and important, but then it's revealed that Snape's mother's maiden name was Prince, so he's "half Prince". It's like... really? That's it. That's how he got the name. I don't know, it just seemed kind of disappointing.

Cool, deep and important, you just descried Snape there. Lol
You just didn't realize. It's perfect as it is.

Snape is cool.... even without Alan playing him he would be an interesting character no matter how nasty and awful he can be to the others.

Oh yes, the reveal was disappointing to say the least. I mean it's the namesake of the book/movie. At least give it the respect it deserves and let the audience know the meaning behind it.

I actually thought it was neat.

The whole relationship between Harry trusting this mysterious, distant stranger he didn't even know, and his blinding distrust of the Potions master throughout the entire film. And in the end, both happen to be the same person. And considering the climax of the film..

I've also been considering the differences in the movie from the book. There's a lot to be angry about, but I actually like how they changed Harry being petrified under the invisibility cloak to Harry deciding to put all his trust into Dumbledore and, by extension (when Snape silently signals Harry to remain silent and he obliges), the prince himself.

Snape being the half blood prince was a nice twist but handled somewhat poorly in the film.

I agree

Snape just made up the title, taking some inspiration, and probably thought it was cool. Its just the sort of thing a teenager would make up for himself.

That's one thing I don't get. If Snape is the Half-Blood Prince, how he be a death eater? Don't they only believe in letting pure-bloods live?

reply

LOL, Voldemort himself is a half-blood...

SPOILER!
