Book question re Harry's first potions lessons

I'm reading the book and Harry's just walked into his first potions class with slughorn..... he sees the potion brewing away and smells treacle tart, the woody smell of a broom handle and something flowery he thinks he smells before at the Burrow....

We later learn that it's a love potion which smells different to everyone depending on what attracts that person.

I understand the wooden broom handle and the flowery smell from the Burrow..... I dont get the treacle tart attraction.

Can anyone explain??

Harry grew up deprived of treat foods like birthday cakes, candies, et al. as Dudley would grab them all for himself. Seems a liking for the smell of a grand dessert would be something that appeals to him.
