Yep, agree. Just watched this on DVD here in England and was blown away by it. Ok, so Chris Pine is a bit older than the 17 years he's meant to play but so what? He did a great job, he is going to be fantastic if he carries on like this. The first movie I saw him in was Star Trek as the young Kirk (another awesome job) and so anything else now is *new* to me even if it was made before Trek.
I would never have seen this but for the fact I am collecting (and therefore slowly going broke) the movies of the always wonderful Bruce Davison. Because of my admiration for Mr Davison, I have seen movies I would never have known existed (The Wave anyone? - now THAT is an amazing movie if you can get hold of it), and Confession is another one of these movies.
I also thought it was a nice touch to have Chris Pine's father Robert in the movie at the beginning, you don't see him that often in front of the camera these days, and I always remember him as he station chief in CHiPS all those years ago!
The person whose review is on the front page here slates this movie as being boring and predictable, and whilst he/she is perfectly entitled to voice such an opinion if that's truly what they felt, I have to disagree, it was an incredible movie and the end was brilliantly done too.
If you get the DVD of this be sure to check out the out-takes and the deleted scenes, especially where one scene is *spontaneously* done as an operatic piece, laughed out loud at that, very good.
All in all, loved it. Star studded cast (including my beloved Bruce Davison), Cameron Daddo, Tom Bosley, Chris Pine, Robert Pine, the list goes on. Well done to all concerned; independents like this are fantastic to watch, and I suspect fantastic to act in!
