Pre-teen movie

I think that a lot of people on this board are seriously over reacting to this movie. I have a 10 year old daughter who really wants to see it and and since its rated pg, I am going to take her and her friends. I have always hated the
Bratz dolls because they are inappropiately too hottie mc-hot-chickish for young girls but the their message has always been pro-friendship and that's a concept that girls don't get enough of.

I haven't seen the movie but judging from the trailers, it seems that being who you are and discovering the neccesity of having "girl friends" is the message here. I didn't see any indication that the girls in the movie are boy chasing sluts.

Girls who view each other as adversaries and competition tend to grow up to be women who see each other as adversaries and competition. This is why, in spite of the fact that there are more women in this country than men, men are running things and we are not. So any movie that promotes maintaining friendships amoung girls is worth watching.

The movie is for pre-teen girls, not adults so if you're not looking at the concept through the eyes of a young girl you are missing the point. Many young girls lose themselves trying to "fit in" and kids are so easily swayed by a crowd or a clique.

And for those of you who are hung up on the emphasis on fashion think back to your own girlhood. How many of us wore earth shoes, crazy socks and gauchos because they were the "in" thing at the time.

Lay off this movie, its for kids and it seems to carry a strong message about the importance of friendship and being who you are.
