This one certainly didn't get high praise in general. I figured something was wrong when the promo photos attached to the IMDB page for "Aliens of the Deep" didn't even show any creatures, just scientists and their equipment. Are there any recommended documentaries that do this subject justice?

The only one you'll ever need to see is the episode of Blue Planet called "The Deep". Narrated by Attenborough.

In a decade or so robotics will be able to engineer and produce unmanned vehicles that withstand the high pressures of the deep much cheaper than today. By that time I guess we will start seeing much more of these wonderful creatures. As of right now i think there are only a handful of docus out there that feature some deep sea creatures. I too would recomend the BBC planet earth episode - The Deep
