Voted Best Film at 'Golden Eagle' awards in Moscow, Russia on Jan. 28


Jan. 28, 2006: This film was voted Best Fiction Film of 2005 and was awarded the "Golden Eagle" prize in Moscow at the Russian equivalent of the Academy Awards.

Top prizes are awarded to those filmmakers exhibiting outstanding achievement in the field of cinemaphotography and notable professional contribution in the development of both domestic as well as world film.

why was it voted "...BEST fiction FILM.." when most (if not all) characters are based on real 9-ya rota. It says soin the documentary that was on DVD.

That's my best translation of "igrovii film" - from Russian newsite where I found the article. Yes, film was based on true story, but was still depicted with actors doing dramatic interpretation of story. Inimi slovami - film was drama, NOT a realism documentary using actual participants.
