isn't Jeff the one who really killed Rudy?

Even though Kenny killed Rudy, Jeff's bottle was actually the one that
lit the tree house on fire. because when kenny threw his first it failed.

Yea, you're right.

Its just a movie but.....

Isn't Kenny just as responsible as Jeff?
Maybe even more so because Kenny threw his bottle first.
If Kenny hit the tree house instead of Jeff, Rudy would be just as dead.

Yup it was Jeff. I noticed that too.

Jeff is definitely more responsible than Kenny. Kenny missed when he threw his bottle and didn't go running off like Jeff did.

The whole thing is is that neither of them expected anyone to be in the tree house. Kenny was more remorseful about it than Jeff was. Jeff wasn't even remorseful about accidentally killing someone. He just killed himself because he realized he probably wouldn't survive juvie.

I don't agree with that at all.

Both boys obviously were struggling with what they did. Jeff ended his life...Kenny didn't.

Truth is that neither of them intended to kill anyone...they had planned to burn down the tree house following getting doused with Rudy's urine. I won't call it an "accident," but I will say that killing Rudy and injuring Leonard was completely unintentional...and when Kenny realized what was going on, he did the best he could.

Thing is, I hated the ending. I didn't like that Jacob kills Kenny. I don't like it because Kenny actually had a bad deal in life...and in spite of his attempt to help, in spite of his remorse, the end basically says that he's the wayward child of divorced parents who won't even be missed.

In a sense, Jacob is worse morally than Kenny is because he knows everything, he does intend to kill, he covers it up and doesn't own up to it. But more than that, it's his Mother who is the evil one...because she takes such joy in Jeff's suicide, and inspires Jacob to kill Kenny!

I fully agree Andell- i hope the driector's intentions were indeed to show that Jacob's actions were worse than Kenny's though it didn't come off that way.

Come to think of it, I wonder how they even found out that Jeff & Kenny were behind it? Nobody saw them throw the bottles. I mean, I think it probably would've come out somehow, but I can't help being curious how.
