Chucky Speaks

Listen...to that wisenheimer bashing my show...Chucky rocked. Turtle Lou rocked. Seriously, the cast members that played Turtle Lou and Doodlebug were some of my best friends back in the day, as was Mike(Pappy). The camera crew rocked (long live Mr. Sulu!) Marilyn (Doodlebug) and I still talk about those days from time to time. Bernie, bless his heart, lit the set and taped the show while battling cancer. I still owe Joe and Steve for the taxi home in the pickup trucks. Who could forget the site of Ted Long smoking in the Buddy Bear suit with the head off (a must see on the outtakes) Alas my friend Gabe, how many trips to Burger King did we make to pick up the latest 'Universal Monster'? Not to mention Dave the sound guy...heck the list of good people
from this show is a long one.

Some of our outtakes are hysterical. I still have them. How many of you knew that Lily was actually enrolled in the witness protection program? (again, you'd have to see the outtakes to understand) And that Mike is a classic Star Trek fan? Unfortunately the show was cut the year it made the cover of TV Guide because a producer took the funds for our show and dumped them into a show on the CBC called Skinamarinkidink (if that's how it's spelled). There were a host of other legal problems with the way money was handled on the show. But the cast and crew were great fun, oftentimes hysterical. Life passes by way too fast when you are having fun, that's a lesson learned.

Anyhoo...I hope some of you had fun watching Pappyland, I know we had a lot of fun making it. A lot of us have lost touch, but if you read this, I just wanted you all to know it was a blast. : )

Sincerely,
Chris Gromm (aka 'Chucky')

Hey,

Thanks! I appreciate it. Pretty much the whole crew lost touch sadly. We had a lot of fun in spite of the productions legal/financial difficulties. Have yourself a great week!

I do. I went up to Toronto to work on Bear Town, a webisode feature. My friend Andreww Youngs directed/produced that. Puppetry is one of those hobbies that's just too much fun to ever quit eh. And the people you get to work with are just such fun characters for the most part.

Are you a puppeteer? If so, what have you worked on? Have a nice evening...
