When are they doing an American version?
I think the show is great, but they should shoot it in American with people that are more interesting to us.
C'mon Fox, pick it up.

We Americans need to start just watching British shows and loving them the way they are instead of making our own version and "dumbing" it down for the general population. I cannot stand how dumb Fox and the rest of the bastards think we as a whole are. Just look at the 2 new shows they are broadcasting, "Miss-Guided" & "Unhitched" now these shows have funny moments but on a whole they are just dumb. There is NO clever writing just attempts to be clever. I would pick a original British show over an American remake anyday. Well except "The Office" I think that the American version works well but it is the exception and NOT the rule.
Just call me DUBZ.
I can just imagine someone trying to pitch the idea of a sitcom where the main character is an agoraphobic loser drug-dealer to an American network
forget the American remake just broadcast the pitch meeting, that would be funny enough
One more drink and I'll be under the table, 2 more and I'll be under the host
Stay in your bubble. You're not allowed out until you start behaving like there are other countries outside the US. I'll pipe in UK comedy, and at some point, with any luck, you'll come out of the situation a better person with proper sense of humor.
Get a grip man! Pull yourself together!
WHat a terrible idea.
It would end up like the office, with bad humour and 29232 'seasons'. They'd bludgeon in 20-odd episodes because apparently yanks can't handle just 6-8 episodes of a show.
The US Version of the Office is much better than the UK version. The only funny character in the UK version was Gareth, and even he got tired. Andy Bernard and Dwight are much stronger and funnier characters.
shareBoth versions of The Office are a bit crab to be honest.
shareThe office american copy is pretty good, mainly because it is still written by ricky- they paid ricky not just for the rights but also to write and produce, they also wanted him to still play the lead(he refused)
many other copys have been made- actually on both sides of the pond
a classic bad example is the american version of red drawf, it just didnt work!
Ricky Gervais didn't write it you idiot he's written one episode and it was crap.
shareI'd say that "Breaking Bad" is as close as I'd want to get to a US remake. Very good but different, maybe not as heavy on the laughs but just as outrageous and grim at times! Bathtubs FTW!

EDIT: I'm English but fortunately have enough intelligence and imagination to adjust to the reality of folks over 'the pond'. Why can't you yanks be the same?

Watch breaking bad, it's better than weeds (which I never really took to).
sharejust leave it, do you think we'd try and re do the supranos, the shield or the wire, have to mention serious tv programs, as sorry, but there are no good comedies that come out of the US. the only truelly funny program to come from your side of the atlantic is Trailor park boys and that's Canadian. American humour does not translate well in the uk. we rely much more on the spoken word, not puerile pye in face stuff or slightly cooky groups of friends living together.
i'll have to amend this post as Curb your enthusiasm is very good in deed.

I know that you are a bad machine. That's why the factory keeps you here. Do you know how I know? I know because I'm from the factory. I make the machines.

You know that each regional version of any language (including "The Queen's English") evolves throughout the years. You also know that slang and colloquialisms change it to something unique that can at times only be perceived as a regional dialect, directly evolved from the original. Look at West Indian English for example. Wouldn’t you say that its differences with “The Queen’s English” are major enough to warrant it the title or an English dialect??? Maybe I should have mentioned that instead of Australian English (whose differences with the English spoken in England are much more subtle), but quite frankly I didn’t because the thread starter, suuzyqt , would probably think that the West Indies is the west part of India...
Anyway, I was surprised with your comment, I feel that these are pretty obvious and self-explanatory things that I shouldn’t need to point out.
I know for a fact that the major differences between mainland Greek (which is my own native language) and Cypriot Greek or Pontian Greek for example are important enough to make the use of the word “dialect” justified. They all derive from ancient and classical Greek; still the differences throughout the years have changed them into different regional dialects, each with its own with unique words, colloquialisms etc. The same applies to "The Queens English" and all its regional manifestations up to a certain degree, and Australian English is no exception. I have to admit that the differences are much more evident between mainland Greek and Pontian/Cypriot Greek than between English as spoken in England, and English as spoken in Australia. When Greek Cypriot or Greek Pontian people speak their own dialects (which both contain quite a few ancient Greek words and expressions), a modern Greek speaker understands about 30% of it!
Even if you totally disagree with my view, you still have to remember that my comment was aimed towards suuzyqt, who seems a tiny bit ignorant if her initial comments are anything to go by. The use of the word “dialect” seemed to me the most appropriate in order for her to comprehend what I was writing about. Not that I she bothered to come back & read it anyway, I was expecting a flaming reply...
Peace mate...

"F|uck you c|unt face. This is a British programme for British people. If you don't like it, f|uck off."
How much do you want to bet that this loser watches at least one American show? Damages, Prison Break, Weeds or Dexter, perhaps? People like this are pathetic. Oh, and what about Battlestar Galactica? Does that count as an American or British show? Is it only for people watching Sky One or is it only for people watching the Sci Fi channel? bingedrinkingisamazing needs to pull his/her head out of the bottle for long enough to get a life.
I know that I am responding to a two year old post but your stupidity amazes me. There is a difference between watching something from another land and being so arrogant as expecting something English to be re-made and translated into English.
