Great Show!

I really love this show, it's more than just clothes, it really shows practicality and has heart.
Jeannie Mai is awesome.

Many people give it complaints that it's "changing them to fit the mould of society"
but have you seen how they dress? and most of them wants great careers which they'll never get if they don't take care of themselves.

When they try on the clothes, you can really see the change in their posture and expression.
they immediately feel more confident and literally glow.

I think the show is great.

I used to love the show.
I really did.
At one point, I loved Jeannie Mai.

But when I saw Gabby's episode, my opinion seemed to change.
Gabby was a crazy fun punk rocker. She loved punk music and loved going to shows.
But her fiance, a slick yuppie Burberry-type of guy wanted her to change.
Sadly, Gabby changed her entire style.
They didn't even let her keep some of her punk elements into the wardrobe.

But I still loved the show and still watched it even if I didn't like that episode.

And then I saw Sylina's episode.
That was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I really felt bad for her. She was very sweet and charming and did not deserve that.

That was the worst makeover. That poor poor lady looked awful at the end.

Afterwards, they bleached the ever living *beep* out of her hair and made it look dead and dry,
they put her in an 80's black jumpsuit that MC Hammer would have worn.
That makeover was atrocious!

How in the hell could they have turned such a beautiful woman into looking like a fried mess?

The collections were AWFUL.

Let me list all the things wrong about them: Baggy blue dress, clown red blazer with leopard print on the sleeves, black tweed jacket that looked like it was made of laundry fuzzies, black 80's jumpsuit.

This girl had no good choices of clothes to choose from. And they ought to fire that stylist Robbie Laughlin.

That was not the worst of it though.
They bullied Sylina. They called her a "tranny". They said she was "delusional".
They nearly drove her to tears.
I'm surprised at how strong she was during the whole process.
That's one strong chick to stand there and take that!
I will say she had my respect because she was so stoic and calm when they were being so cruel.
While she was trying on the collection, Robbie said "I'm so glad! That shirt makes her breasts look invisible!"
To me, that is horrible and a sign he is not qualified to be a stylist since he wants a woman's natural curves to be "invisible". Most of these "runway" stylists hold one body type ideal: the breastless stick-thin anorexic runway figure. But that's not healthy and can cost a woman her life.

After watching this show, I was sick to my stomach.
This was an awful episode which spoiled the series for me.

Bullying that almost makes a woman cry, horrid clothes, horrible results, and a beautiful woman made to look like an 80's crackhead.
Not right. Not acceptable for a so-called "makeover show".

I disagree with Gabby
I thought her style was very immature, the things she wore were not appropriate to the business events she was wearing them too.

She was afraid to grow up and was obviously insecure about her age.
her makeover let her look great for her age and really opened her up to a mature appropriate style.

I agree, sometimes they are a little harsh, but about 80% of the makeovers look great and are soo much needed.

I just watched the one with "Fab Abb"
a mother who wears skintight, revealing clothes and her 10 year old daughter is even imitating her look.

And at the end she looks fabulous, she looked like a mother and really started to shine.

The thing is: You want to know why Gabby was insecure about her age?

She even said her fiance mocked her age calling her an "old lady with wrinkles."

You have your opinion about Gabby's style and that's fine. I can even understand what you're saying.

The thing that upset me most about Gabby's episode was her rude, obnoxious BF.

But you have to remember some of the things said on the show were harmful indeed to Gabby's already deteroriating self esteem.

Gabby's fiance for example said some nasty things to her.
Told she was "tipping the scales the wrong way," "Looked bad in tank tops", and "looked like a hooker".
Gabby's fiance always gave off really bad vibes. He looked like some type of con artist. He didn't seem to be in love with Gabby at all. His so-called "tears" were fake at the end. He treated her like crap throughout the episode and it was very painful to watch. If I were Gabby, I'd keep my guard up.

I saw "Abb Fabb" and even though she was a gorgeous, sweet, and charming young lady, she definetly needed the makeover because yes, her clothes were hideous and torn up so I agree with you there! Yes, Abb Fabb looked amazing at the end. (She got that supermodel thing about her.)

As for Sylina, there was no excuse for them to make her look that horrible.
I just can't get over it. That episode still bugs the hell out of me!
That wasn't a makeover! Fried bleached hair that looked like straw, Baggy 80's jumpsuit, horrible makeup.
At first, I thought she walked off the set off a White Snake music video!
Jeannie Mai is supposed to be a fashionista but Sylina's results were AWFUL!
I felt so bad for her!
Why did they have to bleach her hair? She was a stunning brunette before!
I have to wonder who picked out that horrible, gross jumpsuit?
The clown red blazer was bad enough!
The clothes they picked up didn't even fit her. It was like 2 sizes too larger.
That blue dress hung off her like a giant potato sack.
I mean, how am I supposed to take Jeannie Mai seriously after this episode?
It was like a horrible joke.

By the way, just curious, would you wear that hideous jumpsuit?
I sure as hell wouldn't.
