am I the only one in thinking that the results rarely look good?

After some of these makeovers, I swear I'd personally make those people all over again.

Why are our days numbered and not, say, lettered?

Agreed 100%. They plaster too much makeup on them, and the hairstyles are usually all wrong. At least on What Not to Wear, they generally pick hairstyles and makeup that flatter the contestants.

That's exactly the problem, yes! The bigger women end up looking like drag queens, and all the subjects usually end up looking a decade older with the new hair and makeup. Always makes me think that perhaps a person who had such bad taste to begin with should not be allowed to pick their own hairstyle, eh?

But yeah, on WNTW they don't even show them what they are doing with their hair until after they are done.

yep, I agree. The hair seems to be the problem. Way too glammed and...just nah. WNTW seems to make them over better.

I agree! I love the show but I'm rarely ever impressed with the end result. They always pick the WRONG collection or the wrong hair cut. I prefer What Not To Wear's results. I think because the show is less gimicky but mostly the makeover is more controlled in that the person gets to choose her clothes and in the process learns how to dress and what looks good on her body. This show not so much...

But Jeannie Mai is a cutie!

What I don't like is when they get to the hairstyling part. They try to emulate the chosen hairstyle to the T- including the haircolor, no matter how unflattering it is to the person's skin tone and personality. After watching several episodes, it seems like the person gushes about a certain hairstyle that usually would have been my pick too, but they come out in a completely different hairstyle. It's not as flattering as the one they liked and felt comfortable with. It's almost like off-camera, the crew convinces them to pick something else. They often color their hair completely opposite of the hair color they come on the show with like a black haired person to red or a blonde to dark brown. Unless that person is leaving with a $5000 gift card at the salon of their choice, they make it harder for an average person to maintain. And who should want to emulate a celebrity who has a crew of paid stylists? Most of us are lucky to go every 2 weeks to whoever we can afford. It's much better to give people makeovers that don't require drastic lifestyle changes. At least on WNTW, they enhance the person's natural or current haircolor and do the hair in a simple hairstyle that often requires no more maintenance than running their fingers through their hair to shape it.
