Is Code Lyoko somewhat of a thriller?

The characters have to race against time, consequences of failure being others' demise, the escalation of the danger of XANA's interference with the real world, and how the day is saved frequently in the last possible moment. These three things make me wonder if Code Lyoko could be described as an animated thriller or at least an attempt at such. I'm not an expert on story analysis and so on, but I still wonder whether I have a point or not.
