bring back national service

why don't they bring back national service?

a simple solution for curbing the rise in a-holes walking the streets.

maybe not two years but at least one year to teach the youth of today respect and discipline, not just for themselves but for those around them and the country we live in.

i have two sons and would like to see them carry out some form of national service, they are only 3 and 7 but i think all children/youths should do it. between the ages of 16 and 21 it should be made compulsory.

your thoughts??

Sounds a good idea, but the MoD's kicking it's trained soldiers out at the moment so they're hardly going to start training random people for no reason. And human rights would have a field day if they let the sgts be half as tough as they used to be.

Though i want to join the British Army, I dont think they should becouse National Servicemen are treated differently, They get treated like *beep* and get the dirty work compared to the Regular/Territorial Army, Not everyone wants to join the Army and those in National Service who dont want to be Soldiers dont make good ones.

Chavs or people who dont like National Service would come out even worse then they were before, They may try and smuggle Ammo, Weapons etc out the Camp and supply Gangsters with them on Civvy Street.

Natonal Service should only be brought back if our country is under extreme threat(EG WW2,Cold War).

Maybe National Service could be used for Inmates instead of going on Tag, Not only it would prevent overcrowding prison wings, It would offer them earlier release if they accept the deal, Anyone seen 'The Dirty Dozen'?.

National Service was never intended as a sort of glorified reform school for delinquents. It was a necessary to police Britain's withdrawal from its Empire in the postwar period, and it served this purpose well. Don't forget most of the people who did National Service were NOT yobs, they were decent young men from all walks of life.

Our armed forces are respectable organisations and they should not have to act as Borstals to deal with the dregs of society or make up for the failures of the liberal/left ruling class.

We need the ethos of National Service, yes - but we need it from birth onwards. By 18 it's too late for these yobs. Discipline and respect need to be instilled before the age of 7. It's no good teachers blaming parents and vice versa.

The current ruling class of sixties liberals will be retiring soon and hopefully will have less influence over the way children are educated and the way the traditional family is discriminated against by state policy.

The first series of Lads Army showed what a sham this National Service lark was and those performed National Service did not seem keen of their experience.

Its that man again!!
