Dullest film I've ever seen.

And I just wanted him to cut his stupid hair all the way through it.

That's exactly what I came on here to say. Absolutely funking awful film.

I'm open minded and like a lot of different types of films but this was just horrendous, it just made me want to throw my remote through the tv.

You're off the funking chain!

Yeah, go back to Gilmore Girls and Castaway then man..

I often wonder if it ever occurs to people like you that if you find a film lacking then you're either watching the wrong film, you didn't understand it or whether you're just retarded in the usual American egocentric way. His hair was too long - that's a criticism? Go and scarf down more pigfood.

I came to this board looking for some information about the movie, because I´m not sure I understood it 100% and was maybe hoping for some intelligent discussion about it. But after looking at this thread I see it´s the same here as on so many Imdb boards for foreign movies. The threads mainly consist of either clueless people making comments like "Dullest film I´ve ever seen."..."Boring!" etc. or pretentious clowns writing stuff like the crap I quoted to boost their ego and basically congratulating themselves on watching foreign cinema. I rate the movie 6/10 because although it really is boring in some parts, it´s also far from the most boring movie ever, it´s visually interesting and the acting was really good. So basically I´m saying the movie is mediocre, which in the end makes me want to kick everyone, the OP and the people I quoted.

P.S.: Before I too get bombarded with stereotypes like the ones I quoted, I love asian cinema, that´s why I blind-bought this movie on DVD, so no Castaway for me (but I recommend the korean movie "Castaway on the moon" and I actually like Gilmore Girls). And I´m not retarded in the usual american egocentric way, because I´m german.

reply

I'm sure we're all impressed that you're German. Precisely what your comments have to do with me I'm not sure. Did you actually understand what I was saying?

Look it up on Wikipedia if you need more information. And stop complaining about the obvious. What you see is how most American filmgoers regard foreign films.

I also gave it a 6, and that was mainly because I like Tadanobu Asano's work.

reply

I just mentioned the fact that I´m german because you just assumed about the OP that he is american for no apparent reason (or because it´s convenient to assume that about a person who talks bad about a foreign film). So yeah, I understood what you said (and I agree about the fact that complaining about the hair style of a character is stupid). What exactly is it that I should look up on Wikipedia? You tell me to stop complaining about the obvious, yet you´re the one who felt the need to reply rudely to a slightly altered version of the "worst movie evr!!!!111!"-thread you get on nearly every board for nearly every movie more than 20 people have seen.

What you see is how most American filmgoers regard foreign films.
And again the stereotyping. That´s why I posted in this thread, I wanted to vent some anger about the fact that anytime a person says anything bad about a slightly more complex than usual foreign film, there´s always at least one person saying something like "You just don´t understand the movie, stupid american." Saying a movie is bad without giving specific reasons is just as pointless as this type of answer. I just wish there were more real discussions on these boards.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret here: the world in general, and these boards in particular, weren't designed solely for your benefit.

You don't like the style in which people post, OK. You don't like it when someone says "dullest film I've ever seen" and then you don't like it when I, who is far more exasperated than you, is sarcastic back. You want to sit around with your knitting chatting loftily about "real discussions". You really do want it both ways, don't you?

Sag mal bist du behindert?

reply

Sag mal bist du behindert?
No I´m not retarded or handicapped.
I just wanted to point out that neither the OP nor any of the responding posters gave any real justification for their opinion about the movie. The OP just said it´s dull and then people started insulting him. It´s pointless.
I don´t get what was supposed to be sarcastic about your post (calling americans egocentric? the pigfood?), but it´s hard to convey sarcasm in written form, so I´ll just accept that.
Anyway, since asking someone "Bist du behindert?" ("Are you retarded?") is in my opinion just one small step away from turning the conversation to the level of insults regarding the mother, I just give up. If you like you can call that defeat. I just don´t want to waste any more time.
