reminds me of another movie

i've never actually seen this movie but the trailer reminded me of another movie. It was about like black mobsters and it seems like it took place around the same time period idlewild did. I was wondering if anyone knew the name of this movie cuz i saw it a long time ago and dun remember the name of it. It was alot darker then idlewild. Its about this one guy and how he becomes like the boss and it ruins his family. his wife leaves him i think his brother gets killed or something like that. His main enemy was like this fat irish cop. if anybody remembers the name of this movie it would greatly be appreciated.

it may have. i really have no idea. I watched it maybe 10 years ago. i searched for "Harlem" on imdb and didnt find anything.

It was probably "Hoodlum", which starred Laurence Fishburne. But in my opinion, Idlewild reminds me of Harlem Nights.

isnt hoodlum black and white? The movie im talking about was in color. The movie was about like one main character not three. Its like a black mob or something and they're trying to be the number one of something. Its similar to hoodlum. I remember only some scenes. Like i remember one scene where the main character is in an ice cream shop with his wife and he asks for like a sundae and a boy gives it to him cept theres sprinkles on it. Apparently the guy always gets the sundae made the same way and he never gets sprinkles. The guy thinks its poison and makes the boy eat it. The boy does eat it and it is poison so the boy dies. The guy's wife is scared and is tired of being afraid all of the time so she leaves him. The guy's best friend ends up being killed by the cops. The guy then goes searching for the cop. who is this fat irish guy. He finds him in an whore house about to have sex wit the main guy's wife who apparently had no money and nowhere left to go. he takes the cop and brutally murders him.

THE MOVIE YOUR THINKING ABOUT IS (A RAGE IN HARLEM) staring forrest whitaker, danny glover, robin givens, Gregory Hines...JUST TAKE OUT ALL THE MUSIC VIDEO STUFF AND YOU HAVE THE SAME MOVIE
