OUTKAST Officially Dead

Ever since 1994 I have been an Outkast fan I even gave them a pass on speakerboxx and lovebelow

but this movie was horrible , I know it was suposse top be a musical but rappin in the 30's?

the plot itself was not bad , but the animation, the dry characters destoyed it for me

AND WHY IN THE WORLD DOES CICELY TYSON ALWAYS PLAY THE SAME ROLE?

C-HOOD, excuse me for saying so... but you seem a little slow and narrow minded.

I mean, if Outkast was your signifigant other and she hadn't cooked you a good dinner since 1994, wouldn't you break up with her? I mean, it seems like you're really not an Outkast fan, but more so a fan of their albums...

Also, I don't get how their dead because they are branching out and taking risks. Too many artists don't evolve.

And by the way, they did rap in the 30's... It wasn't called rap. But the art of rhyming has been around for centuries...

And Cicely Tyson is an older woman, they don't write Tomb Raiders for 60+ black women. And if you want to talk about people playing the same roles, it isn't exclusive to Cicely... Think 95% of actresses in the black community, 99% in America.

WOW thank you...........

thats where you are wrong I love Outkast I have no problem with branching out , but they have done a 180 and Dre wanting to sing all the time just doesnt work for me

if the Beatles, Elvis or Elton John did a 180 with their styles would you say the same thing?

And by the way, they did rap in the 30's... It wasn't called rap. But the art of rhyming has been around for centuries...

I know that but it didnt fit for the movie

Cicely Tyson is one of the greatest actors of our time her age has nothing to do with her being cast in the same role all time

how did Outkast as a whole do a 180? Big Boi is still rappin, and Dre is going back to his rappin roots, as the Idlwild album showed.

haven't you noticed on the Idlewild album, he raps more often than he did on "The Love Below"(actually he didn't rap at all in "The Love Below")so yeah, returning to his roots, as I like to call it.

Actually Dre raps on the last track of "The Love Below"

Maybe you would know this is you actually listened to the album all the way through...and yeah Outkast is NOT dead.

reply

either way, he raps more often on "Idlewild" than "The Love Below", and don't attack me, attack the guy who said OutKast is officially dead, as I said nothing disrespectful. Don't get ur panties in a bunch b/c I didn't listen to all of "The Love Below" .

I can't believe you disrespected Cicely Tyson...most actresses her age have trouble finding a role. I'm glad she was in the movie. Would you have rather a 30 or even 40 something year old made up to look old???
OutKast strecthed their artistic muscles. I respect that and true fans get it. When Andre and Big Boi don't understand...don't understand each other as artist that's when OutKast will officially be dead. I seen someone walking out the show before the movie was over and thought how sad...because they missed the great closing scene. We have such history in music in black music. They were trying to expose that...too bad eveybody didn't see that. But, I can see why Outkast many have disappointed some but I feel they just want to try something new. Their talent still inspires me.

I think it is disrepectful to keep casting her as the old black woman , she as I said before she is one of the greatest actresses alive , just because she is old she doesnt have to play those types of characters

as far as the movie Only Outkast understand whats going on, yeah they still have fans but they have lost this one and im sure there are hundreds more like me

Yes!!! Thank you, I couldn't have said it better myself.
I loved this film so much. It was so imaginitive and fun.
I plan to own this when it comes out on dvd. Yes, so just
don't "get it". just like the folks that didn't get Molin Rouge(another
great work of art).
If you truly love art then this is for you.

I absolutely loved this too but didn't like Moulin Rouge, so if you didn't like Moulin Rouge don't let it put you off seeing this.

See, people love to hate more than they love to expand their own mind.

This thread is a perfect example. I remember working at Best Buy the week that The Love Below/Speakerboxxx came out. So many people were trying to return it because it wasn't what they thought OutKast should be releasing. Of course you can't return a CD for that reason, so those narrowminded people were out 15 bucks and I had to listen to them bitch about how crappy the album was and then I'd go out to my car and crank that very same album up and enjoy it while I drove home.

As for this movie being horrible, well I am going to file that with the rest of the narrow-minded "haters" who think OutKast are dead or some other innane nonsense just because they come out with something different.

This movie has done hip-hop a better service than any other films I can think of to come out lately. Maybe if you don't like this you can go watch 50 Cent's movies or 8-Mile if you want cookie cutter run of the mill BS that most hip-hop nowadays is. Or you can try and keep an open mind and enjoy the cinematography and artistry that everyone involved with this picture put forth. You can tell there is a lot of heart in this film as well as a lot of talent behind it.

So love it or hate it, OutKast are just using their talents in a broader spectrum and maybe you can't take it all in. Some people can't see the forest for the trees. And then again some people might want meat and potatoes every meal for their entire life. I'll take the welcome break from monotony that the boys in OutKast gave us with Idlewild and look forward to whatever they throw at me next. It's their art and they are good at making it in whatever form they choose.

I have an open mind I even understood what they are trying to do , but that didnt mean I should like it
its my opinion , I didnt say they should stop making music or movies , this one just was garbage to me

I love Public Enemy but I dont like Flavor of Love

if you can understand that you can understand why I didnt like Idlewild

I get you I mean your entiteld to you're own opinion and I don't doubt you for it although personally I think that Speakerboxx/The Love Below was one of the greatest albums ever made, but you have to understand they've evolved all artists evolve they just happened to go in a direction that you don't personally care for and I think yur a bigger better man for admitting that; I mean i've also liked them since 1994 but I also like the fact that they don't follow they just do thier own thing, for example although i'm a huge fan I myself didn't particularly like Idlewild (not that I was expecting a masterpiece or anything) like you I also love Public Enemy , and as for Flava Of Love well i'd rather eat glass than let that little crack pixie known as Flava Flav within 5 feet of me but come on New York she was a classic (No one can fake that kind of crazy)

I cant watch flavor of love so im not sure of what aspect you mean
