my review

I LOVED this movie . My mom and I went to see this in the theatres. It was my mom's Idea to see it and I'm glad she did I would of missed out on this awesome film. I loved the music and dancing. I hate musicals but this was nice. Although the music was not in the right era it still matched with the movie. The dancing was phenomenal I wish people still danced like that. That era was nice I wish I could live in that era . I loved Terrence Howard character trumpy. He is sexy and hot when he's bad on screen. I like him better as a villain IMO :-P it is very underrated but glad we supported it. This introduced me to Paula Patton. Glad to have seen this film glad outkast changed the style in hip hop hope they make a comeback soon.

Great to hear and I agree, I think its hard for people to accept black films, people wanna jump down your throat for calling Burlesque bad. That film is horrible, Idlewild has better music, actually exciting and good story, the only down fall is that it isn't historically accurate. The truth is that people hate on all black films, just look at About Last Night.

What a lot of people don't realize is the music does match the era. If you look into hip hop, real hip hop you'll find that many of the songs are from an older era, a previous era and has been sampled or rearranged. Rap and hip hop have been around for ages but wasn't made that popular until the 70's. A lot of people think thats where it began, but thats not true, its always been around. In hip hop everything comes from something before it no matter how new it sounds. Without previous eras and genres of music, rap or hip hop would not be able to exist. The music from Idlewid is historically correct.
