Im shocked this board is empty

anyone else as shocked as I am?

reply

I can't believe it either! I thought more peoploe would be into this movie.

reply

Actually no, I am not. What I am surprised at is that this only gets a 5.4...What? How does this merit a mediocre rating. An intelligent and insgihtful doc ...what, the lighting was not right or something? But race is a tought subject and so it does not surprise me. But I will say that this should be mandatory viewing for every hip-hop artist and every wannabe hip-hop artist.

In all fairness, why just choose this word though? Why not ALL racial slurs?...

because that word is the most known and one of the most insulting when used in a derogatory way. I mean everything it stands for is practically wrong. why would you not use that word for the doc.

"It took almost 2 hours for them to actually get to the "should this word be accepted and still used today?" bit, then they didn't even come to a conclusion."

What conclusion were they supposed to come to? Did you want them to tell you (or others) how to think or feel about the N-word?

"I reviewed this on Amazon.com, and am the second reviewer on the page for it (under spotlight reviews, that's me). 10/20 "helpful" votes shows that still, people don't know the difference between "helpful review" and "one you agree with". I'm guessing this is one of those movies like Crash where if you don't like it, you're a racist, right?"

No, this is you getting mad because people didn't kiss your asterisk, and say, "Wow! You are so much smarter than everyone else! What a great review!". How sad that you felt the need to come here and plug your tired-ass review.

"In all fairness, why just choose this word though? Why not ALL racial slurs?"
WTF does fairness have to do with racism? If life were fair, people wouldn't be treated in a hateful manner simply because they have dark skin.

reply

By the logic of your last comment, no one should mind racism because life isn't fair. Either you didn't word that very well, or you are profoundly cynical.

reply

Race is still a hot issue in this country. Its a word many people use but when confronted they shy away from it. Americas response to racism is to pretend it never existed....stupid, huh?

reply

to be honest I never heard of this movie until i was sitting at work board as hell trying to look busy. the truth of the matter is, this film clearly didn't receive enough marketing. I can only assume a list of reasons why, but I would really love to see it. does anyone know how i can get my hands on a dvd

reply

Overstock.com has it available for pre-order for $10.38. It's being released in January 2007

Call a Scot a Brit and see what he does to you. This is not the most insulting racial slur.

reply

Yes,it is.

reply

No, it isn't. It may be the most insulting to a particular group of people, but it seems a bit ignorant and hypocritical to value the opinions of one race over any other, especially since what originally made it offensive was racism.

In response to an earlier post, based on this board's discussion, America's real response to racism is to say it only happens to some people.
