The Red Carpet Premiere
First of all, I have to say that I was sorely disappointed in the residents of Kalamazoo for not showing more support for the Red Carpet Premiere. I have followed all the hard work the sisters have done in trying to promote this movie and have been just about as excited as they were for being able to have the initial showing here in Kalamazoo. I showed up at 5:45 for the 6pm Red Carpet Premiere so that I would be able to get a good position to take pictures and perhaps talk to the stars of the movie. I thought I must have had the wrong time as there was NO ONE THERE. By the time the 4 primary actors arrived in the red Mustang from the movie, there might have been about 30 people there. Pathetic. This was a big deal. A HUGE event for Kalamazoo. And the peak of the premiere had only about 80 people show up. Again, pathetic. I was not able to stay for the midnight showing (I had to be at work at 7am) but I did go on saturday to the 2:30pm showing, and who should happen to be behind me? The father of Joanna and Dana. And we were at the end of the line waiting to get in the theatre. THERE WAS A LINE PEOPLE! Kalamazoo finally came out to show support. It was awesome. And according to the sisters dad, the movie was selling out at every theatre is was showing. THAT is what I am talking about.
Go see the movie. I won't say that it is a classic, or that it is the best movie I have ever seen. Or even that it is the best movie I have seen this year. But it is good. It does have heart, and humor, and reality.
Congratulations girls --- you did it.
