God Mode

I have to say beating the game on God Mode is, without question, the hardest thing I have ever done on a video game. How many of you guys were able to beat it?

Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.

I have gotten all the way to Ares, and cannot beat him. I get to the fight with Kratos' clones, and I can't get past them. I've pretty much given up. I don't have a winning strategy.

I've beaten GoW II, and am very much looking forward to the eventual release of III. But I will be forever plagued by the knowledge that one task remains left...

If I had a dollar for every brain you don't have, I'd have one dollar!

On God mode, because of those effinn clones, I nearly broke my controller.

I finally beat the clones on God Mode the other day after about 4 hours of trying!!!! I was so happy, I just had Ares last form to beat, and it was easy before...
I was utterly wrong. The clones are easy compared to that cheating god. One hit will kill you, you can't block it (explosion from his hand), and you can't predict it coming. Plus, becuase the blades are gone and replaced with that annoying slow sword, all the fun of the combat is gone, making the fight just incredibly annoying and boring. Worst part of the game IMO, as the fight is so clunky.
I eventually had to turn it off, before PS, disc, controller and anything else I could lay hands on went out the window. Now I gotta beat the clones again, just to get back to that annoying fight. I really don't know if I can be bothered as it is just not enjoyable. But I've come sooooo far...
Any God Mode beaters got any tips on beating Ares 3? How to get close enough to hit him without getting his nasty, unblockable fireball??

He, he, I finally beat it last night! I'm so happy. Plus I had to beat it no less than three times because my PS froze TWICE whilst walking into Mount Olympus. TIP TO ALL - do not press START button as this seems to freeze game!!
It's like now I've suddenly reached a stage where I can beat clones/Ares almost everytime. Basically clones are fairly simple if you can turn up with FULL magic. This gives you one extra Army of Hades which will give you enough time to get Rage of Gods filled up a second time. By the time all that is over (and magic totally exhausted), there should only be one or two regen spots for the clones. Don't fight these (takes too long, and they'll hurt you or family), just pick them up with O for an instant kill - as they emerge from the ground. Ignore the one throwing balls on the island, he gets killed automatically by the game.
