I finished this game yesterday on PS3(I've got the God of War Collection),and I must admit that the Ares battle was easy.
In fact this is probably the easiest boss battle out of all three games!!!Thing is,I've got this game on PS2 and have never finished it,yet it only two me two or three weeks to finish it on PS3!!!!
If you use the Army of Hades on Ares you can easily replenish your health and magic!!!
I should have known those alien maggots booby trapped this sub.

Coincidentally,it only took me a couple of days to beat God of War 3 the first time I finished it!!!
I've finished it twice already and am playing it a third time.I've already made it to the Labyrinth.

I agree. Ares was easy. The battle with Pandora's Guardian was much more difficult for me (at least the first time). Now I can breeze through it like no one's business. Still lots of replay value!

God of War can be finished in a day, so you really aren't very fast. Yeah the first part of the the Ares boss-fight is easy. The hard part comes when you are stripped of all your weapons and magic.
