actual start date + who to submit to for crew- - Dark Matter (2008) Discussion

according to the Chinese Media, the film has already began shooting in the end of 04 ( I am not sure exactly when). however, they stop the shooting because of Liu Ye's buzy schedule promoting his newest film in China as well as the climatical condition in Utah. the film will start shooting in March of 05. hope this information is helpful.

just curious if Liu Ye is a big star in China? And also if any further info about 'Dark Matter' & where it will be shot in Utah when it resumes & so forth?

Liu Ye is a really, really big star in China. He's also very talented. He's not conventionally handsome, but his great cacting makes him appealing.

I don't know about when it's supposed to start in Utah, but I do know that at least some of the location filming will be in the Computer Science building at Utah Valley State College in Orem, UT. I'm a Computer Science major there and they told us about this six months ago - we were also told they would be filming in March. But that definately hasn't happened yet. We were told that the crew really liked the look of the inside of the building. The main floor is laid out to look like a circuit board, and there are various functional structures that look like components on the board. It is also a very open building. It's four stories tall and the middle of the building is completely open (you can stand on the floor on the first floor and see the ceiling four stories above you).

Filming with Ms. Streep should begin early next year. (Spring 2006)

I go to UVSC too (I'm a Multimedia major). I don't know when they started filming, but they are filming now. Today, my instructer came into class and asked if any of us were interested in being extras in the film. Then he cancled class so that he could continue to help with the film.

I've read a book about this tragic story. I will be a good movie, I bet. Is it still shooting? I would like to visit the casting group, but don't know how.

They said Liu Ye was not previously well-informed of his character in the film, which is actually pretty negative on overseas Chinese student.

Anyone heard anything about this?

It's a rumor!
This film is based on the LU Gang event, but has little to do with it. Liu Ye did hesitate to play in this film when the producer and director found him 2 years ago, since he didn't want to play a negative role who killed his American professor. But after having read the screenplay, he changed his mind, because he found this story was quite objective. I believe him. He is a very honest young man.

Filming is Scheduled Saturday June 17 to Tuesday June 27 on the UVSC, Orem, Utah campus.

They are actually filming right outside my apartment downtown Salt Lake, outside the New York Subs on 300 S. and Main

I'm a student at UVSC and I also work here. Today when I went to set up for classes the were filming. Lots and lots of eqipment and all of the building lights have been turned off.
