Will this movie be set at the Uni. of Iowa?

Does anyone know this? I know it is based on the tragic events there exactly 15 years ago today, but i believe the movie changes names and other things. So I was just wondering if the location was different. Also, any word on a release date?

This film was filmed at my college (future university... its in a transition), Utah Valley State.

It was also undoubtedly filmed in Salt Lake City.

It's sort of bizarre, cuz I saw a screening today at the festival, to see all these class rooms I have been in for classes, and the hall ways that I walk in on a daily basis. Some of the building is so ugly, but it actually looked... pretty... here.

I had a laugh though when I saw the character waiting for a meeting in one shot, and it was actually right next to my film classroom itself. And then, it got better, cuz in the next shot he was supposed to be in an office... which is no where near the previous shot he was summoned from!

Any way... that's where its at, and it is called Valley State University in the film, and it takes place in 1991.

To my knowledge, this film is based on the event in University of Iowa in 1991. But it seems to take a stance of empathesizing the shooter, Dr. Lu (in the movie is Dr. Liu). It is very interesting, though, the comments in Chinese community on the brutal event were mostly against Dr. Lu for his selfishness and over-egoism. The real circumstances that Dr. Lu’s problem might not be as serious as he was claimed like a persecution.

I am sure and acclaim that this film tries to expose the political 'dark' side in academy, which happens worldwide. But I'm not sure if this movie would make the shooter a tragic hero whose opportunities were “deprived” for the politics. I mean, if those shooter’s professors and classmates become the 'bad guys' in this film, it may be unfair for them whose lives were deprived by the shooter in that real event.

But anyway I will love the Meryl’s performance. I see the trailer and get excited that she cooperates with Liu Ye, who was the best actor of 2001 Golden Horse Award for the character of a gay men in Lan Yu.
