Interesting subject but failed to impress.

Personally, I couldn't keep up with the subtitles from Chinese to English.
I didn't like the DVD at all. It was obvious that the academic environment as all acedemic environments challenge those that do not approve or keep up with their supervisor, even if they are brilliant.

Sorry.... I thought it was a dud for entertainment despite the two internationally known actors Meryl Streep and Aiden Quinn. It was a typlically Chinese directed and Pathos and melodramic produced film. And I wish the sub titles had been slowed down.

It was dark too. Like Dark Knight, all the frames where without a lot of light, that I don't like! It will be a film that is anti Western, and should be but
has no credibility about what the ending could change the future.

I thought this was a great idea, a good screenplay, had talented actors, but suffered from bad directing. what was with the occasional "comedic" cut-scenes? it's like the viewer was transported from a serious drama to an episode of Scrubs and then back again. The cowboy scenes? I get it, it's symbolism, but done very poorly, very student-filmy. Still, I thought it was a good movie and I'm very glad to have watched it.

I wasn't impressed either. This film is a scattershot connection of ideas that never gain momentum. Meryl Streep was terrific, but Aidan Quinn seemed miscast. And yes, the subtitles went way too fast. 5/10 at most from me.
