Selfish?

Just going on the movie not the real life of Jane Austen.

I go back and forth. Id like to think in real life that true love conquers all and the heart wants what the heart wants etc.

But Jane's entire family is screwed when the dad dies and leaves nothing to support them. Wouldn't you feel somewhat obligated to marry to help your family? You're not being asked to marry a monster - you could make a good life with him. Love can grow from friendship.
