Tim and Eric kinda stole their act

Tim and Eric kinda stole their act! Not really so much with Tom Goes the Mayor or Check It Out with Dr. Steve but with Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job and also some of their newly streamed material. It's really just an Americanized version of The Mighty Boosh. I love Tim and Eric though and think they're way funnier. Probably because I'm American

Actually, Tim and Eric were more inspired by Mr Show than anything. That's why they first sent their material to Bob Odenkirk when they were just getting started. Also, I wouldn't call Tim and Eric an Americanized version of anything. I mean yeah they're Americans but they don't really represent anything about typical American media as Tim and Eric Awesome Show was way heavier on the surrealism than The Mighty Boosh anyways. It's just kind of a misleading thing to say. They're kind of similar shows because they're both great examples of modern absurdest television, but they didn't steal their act from anyone and I think you're looking a bit too much into this.

Both are great shows though!

I'd disagree for a couple of reasons. First the style of humor in Tim & Eric is a whole lot of cringe with small helpings of punchline. Boosh tends to make actual jokes (even if the setting is surreal) and is not so much cringe as absurd.
Also there is a lot about Tim and Eric that seems to come from the perspective of people who work in broadcast or post. Even the title 'Awesome show great job" reads exactly like the type of post show pep talk people in news broadcast are familiar with. And the way over the top use of video effects is like an inside joke to anyone in post.
The other side of this is the kind of 'love letter to cable access' aspect. These guys clearly have a lot of affection for the type of amateur video productions that flourish in the free cable access channels of the United States. The garish colors, cheesey iris wipes and chunky titles are all aspects of community cable access programs. As well as the ham fisted production and non-actor actors.

Boosh also has actual linear story lines.

I'd agree with you, but MB is actually funny while T&E put on one of the most boring unfunny "comedy" shows I've every witnissed.

I like Tim and Eric, but Mighty Boosh is a thousand times better.

What a waste. Oh, the humanity!
