Are there any other films like Match point?

This is one of the best films that i have ever seen!! I cant really point my finger into what moved me so much.. Maybe the mix of genre or the whole story, i dont know. There is another film that reminds me very much of this one, and that is Closer, i just loved it!!

Please help me out with similar movies but not to old please!! Thank you.

Agreed. Match Point is definitely one of my favorite films. I'm not sure exactly how similar this movie is, but another favorite of mine is "Little Children".

Both movies are rather dark, tend to question morality (almost to the point of sympathizing with the villain), but most importantly leave you thinking about it hours after you've actually finished watching. It's really hard to explain why I liked both films, but I would definitely give Little Children a chance.

Hope you like it!

"Little Children" is an excellent film and would probably appeal to movie fans who love intelligently written dramas like this one.

Another fan of Little Children here. Dark movie, surprising, stays with you after you see it. Someone also mentioned Closer, Clive Owen rips into Julia Roberts, brutal scene. Now I want to watch Match Point, the only movie of the 3 I've seen just once.

Dial M For Murder. See if you like it, similar themes and whatnot.

Since you liked Match Point, you might enjoy Mr. Allen's earlier film Crimes and Misdemeanors. I like them both, myself.

In some ways, it is similar to the Talented Mr. Ripley?

It is similar in tone to The Talented Mr. Ripley.
For the sexual sparks, however, I recommend an early 1950s Marilyn Monroe film, Niagara. She plays (seriously) a very Bad Girl. Before my time (a little) but I think it more or less put her on the map, got her noticed, for sure!

In terms of similarity in morality and motives, I would suggest The Talented Mr.Ripley as well, which was more tense, and more of a psychological thriller than anything.

ScarJo Alert: Fans probably already know this. She will very soon star in a Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

As Maggie the cat I assume. That sounds cool.

Closer and Match Point are one of my faves too !
You should watch American Beauty and Mr.Brooks. You will love both trust me.

The one that stuck out in my mind was 'Derailed' - very similar plot in my opinion. It's become one of my favourite movies, if you haven't seen it, I recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

You have missed the ones that are EXTREMELY similar to Match Point (10/10) and the only criticism I can give is that it is so similar to these excellent films - George Stevens' "A Place in the Sun" (9/10), starring Montgomery Clift abd Elizabeth Taylor and F.W. Murnau's "Sunrise - A song of Two Humans" (9/10), a silent film with George O'Brien and Janet Gaynor, which some have claimed is the best film ever made (I'm not making that claim). Although those two are very similar, I believe March Point is the best of three great movies.

reply

I think this is a copy of "A place in the sun" (1951) by George Stevens.

reply

It's A Place in the Sun if Montgomery Clift's character had been lucky. He wasn't....and was caught.

reply

I'm not so sure if my recommendation is any close to match point or even similar, but Match point just remind me of Revolutionary Road. maybe because of the bitter and dark ending.

Beyond a doubt truth bears the same relation to falsehood as light to darkness.

If you haven't already seen it, Cassandra's Dream had a lot of the same "feel" as Match Point. I think Match Point is a slightly better movie, but I think you'll like it if you like Match Point.

reply

A Place in the Sun with Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor. it's an excellent movie with a very similar story line as Match Point.

reply

I love "A Place in the Sun' . Match Point doesn't even come close , in fact I did not like it at all.
