That according to Freddie Highmore's profile, he was born in 1992. This movie was released in 2008. If they released this movie shortly after it was filmed, that would mean that he was 15 or 16 when he played the roles of Jared and Simon Grace. Pretty young looking 16 year old. It looks more like they filmed it when he was about 12 or 13, but didn't release it until a few years later. Any thoughts?

No, they didn't. Sarah Bolger was born in 1991 and she looks perfectly 16 years old girl in this movie.

When I first saw that Freddie was a little older than me, I was surprised, probably after either August Rush or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory came out
