The Great Khan - Second Part will come!

I'm looking forward to see 2nd part.
I'm a Mongolian. I wasn't that happy about 1st part of trilogy.

I didn't like many things in the movie, especially story, cast, clothes and etc.
Even people in the movie couldn't speak Mongolian. They sounds like speaking Chinese :)) How the feck did they bring idea about Mongols wear fur hats in every season? Mongols used to wear vast variety of clothes, deels and hats suitable for winter and summer. Anyway there are many things which looks funny in my eyes.

Probably the main reason was Bodrov hadn't cooperated with Mongolians that much on first part. I hope they would do better things. It would be great if Mongolian government or big companies participate and cooperate on second series.

Bodrov in town to outline plans for Mongol sequel
13 February, 2010 | By Martin Blaney

Russian writer-director-producer Sergei Bodrov will be in Berlin on Sunday to unveil his upcoming directing and production slate, including The Great Khan, the anticipated sequel to his Oscar-nominated 2007 film, Mongol.

This second part of his Genghis Khan biopic will be shot in 2011 in China, Kazakhstan, Germany and Mongolia, and will be produced by Bodrov Film Production with the US-based Tengri Production, Kinofabrika and Skady Lis’ new independent production and financing company Getaway Pictures.

The production partners are also developing Bodrov’s Queen Of War, which will shoot in India, Kazakhstan and Morocco, and Samson, an adaptation of Vladimir Jabotinsky’s novel of the same name, which will shoot in Israel and Morocco.

Bodrov will also serve as producer on Régis Wargnier’s Sultan Beybars, and direct The Last Photograph for Zack and Deborah Snyder’s Cruel & Unusual Films.

That could be interesting. I'm not Mongolian but the first movie did leave me rather unsatisfied. But I'm sure the story of Genghis Khan can be interesting enough to put together a nice trilogy.

Excellent!

I'm so looking forward to seeing what they'll give us now that all the backstory is given and we can now focus on his military exploits and his real rise to power.

Hopefully they get a bigger budget this time, though.

I don't think there will be ever a Mongol 2/ The Great Khan, it's invisible actually, no where remains to be seen an Interview of Sergei Bodrov explaining it.. I don't think he's planning on making a sequel unfortunately..

I did heard RZA is gonna direct a movie about Genghis Khan in China , screenplay is by John Milius to be correct and what troubles me with that project is it's gonna be in hands of western people, don't get me wrong but Hollywood has a habit to stereotype other cultures and they probably gonna make a movie that's gonna be total American-lized, you'll see things such as a "White man having sex with Mongolian women" I'm very very upset Americans are gonna make a movie on Genghis Khan, the west hasn't fully accept the fact that Mongolians would thrash the Roman Empire..why do you think people in the west use the term Mongol/Mongloid as a negative word, at the end of the day it's envy..cause the Romans were un developed and weaker than the Mongols.. Go figure !

Hi, I just wanted you to see the post I recently made regarding the sequel to Mongol. I emailed Getaway Pictures almost a year ago asking about The Great Khan. And I received an email explaining what was going on. I just recently found email again so I thought I'd post it. I'm just sorry it took me a year to post it. Thank you and take care.

Giving up hope at this point on seeing a sequal. It's a shame as this was a great beginning.

Any update on the status of Великий Хан/The Great Khan/Mongol 2 ? Perhaps in post-production, although IMDb doesn't seem to have a listing for it yet.
