John Hawkes

I didn't realize who it was who was playing Richard at first. I felt I recognized the face and had a good feeling about him but that he often played bad guys. I was glad he had been given a romantic lead, which he seemed to fit perfectly. I like to watch movies without knowing who the actors are beforehand so I can be surprised by the casting and sometimes you catch a star in an early effort.

Then I found out Richard was played by John Hawkes. Hawkes played Teardrop in Winter's Bone, an eminent performance. If you haven't seen Winter's Bone, do. It was the real star-making outing for Jennifer Lawrence ... no one could forget her in it. The memory of Hawkes in that movie has been over-shadowed by that of Lawrence ... but his performance was no less brilliant. Again, if you haven't see Winter's Bone, I would suggest you see it.
