And I think David's reply to him was good as well. He said, "That's a really good question. Which is what grown-ups usually say when they don't know the answer."

The question gets right to the heart of what the movie is about. And the answer is multi-faceted.

David's answer was the most honest response that I've ever heard from any parent - prospective, foster, adoptive, biological.

The only thing I might have added is, "For good or for bad, there are times when one has to 'be like everybody else' - or at least to act like it. Otherwise you risk the situation getting anywhere from awkward to difficult to impossible."
