Am I the only one who liked this??

I am a huge John Cusack fan. I just finished this movie On Demand, and I realy enjoyed it. I cried twice !! and fell in love with John Cusack.. like I do in every movie.
I was surprised to see that it had such negative reviews.

watching it for the first time right now and I am looking forward to watching it from the beginning again. I have already cried twice and I remember why I love John Cusack movies so much...

"Everything they do is so dramatic and flamboyant. It just makes me want to set myself on fire!"

I cried twice...after his dog died and then at the ending. It was a cute and emotional movie <3

I like John Cusack, I think he's an excellent actor; but I'm not a fan to the point where I'll watch anything just because he's in it.

However, I really loved this movie.

Of atoms, stars and nebulæ, of entropy and genes;
And whether one can bend space;
And why the spaceship shrinks.

You are NOT the only one who liked the movie. I thought it was truly amazing. I think Dennis is a brilliant, but very troubled little kid who just wants to be loved. He almost got me crying on a couple occasions and i just wanted to hug him. Bobby Coleman's performance was exceptional and he was soo cute.
Plus he seems like one of the most friendly and cheerful young actors out there in a world of fake smiles and forced laughs, just watch his Youtube interviews

In more or less every postive post in this thread, i wanna quote what you lothave said, becuase there have been some brilliant and very observant posts.

9/10 Martian Child, 3 of those because of Bobby's performance. (yes he was THAT good)

NATHAN GAMBLE, Bobby Coleman, Zachary Gordan and Jackson Bond are all AWESOME

No you are not the only one. I enjoyed it as well. Great acting all round.

I loved it! Seen it twice already and I'm going to purchase it, I'm sure. :) I think it's a wonderful story and that little boy is such a adorable and talented actor. Also, he had such great chemistry with John. I totally bought their father-son relationship.

I carry your heart; I carry it in my heart.

It's the victim of an era of cynicsm. This is a very good film, well written, and well acted by both Cusack and the kid. If the kid had ended up a psychopathic rapist or killer or any other jaded, hopeless storylines demanded by today's hateful audiences, it would have won an oscar.

That's a cynical post in itself, lol, but I have to agree. This was a great movie, touching from its heart. It's so rare to find a genuinely honest movie these days. Which should come as no surprise, since most of them can't survive among all the criticism and shallow but attention-grabbing storytelling. It's bloody depressing how a good movie like this one doesn't get the credit it deserves because people don't have the IQ or attention span to appreciate a moving, realistic story.

I only do it with superheroes.

I worked at a cinema when this was one. I liked it so much I saw it twice but I could tell it was not doing really well as the theater was nearly empty when I saw it first time around and completely empty when I watched it a second time. also while starting the projectors (At the time it was not digital) I would check the screen all the time and it was never filled up. People really did not give this film a chance.Sad because it was very cute and heartwarming.
