What's wrong with you people?

I would like to know what is wrong with all these people who criticized this movie. Where is your sense of humour? You have to give things a chance sometimes. We were a bunch of people together tonight [Friday] when someone came with that movie and said the reviews he read were strange: they were either excellent or downright awful. Being a mixed crowd of guys and ladies, from different religions, we decided to give it a shot.

Let me tell you, EVERYONE was touched and really enjoyed the true reality to life shown in that movie. The proof? When the end credits came on, WE ALL stood up and gave it a long applause. Some guys even had tears in their eyes and were a little embarassed because their younger years were not too different from what Jeremy Piven's. A verrrry long discussion took place afterwards about hidden feelings which people, for some idiotic reason, like to keep inside them until it tears them, and those they love, apart and only bring them out when it is too late.

I still say IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE like they used to make years ago when you went home afterwards and you really felt good.

It just goes to show that we are all different - we should just accept that some people hated it. I for one loved it! It felt genuine and the emotions very real.

movies always seem better when watched in large groups. its a strange phenomenon

I also loved this movie. I loved it for it's reality. Being that I'm Jewish, I found this to be an extremely humorous film. It's funny because it's true.

I actualy liked even though im not jewish. I just enjoyed it as entertainment.

I thought the attempts at comedy missed their mark by a longshot, the dialogue was tired and the whole production seemed awkward. Was the underlying theme "heartwarming" in its own way? Yeah, sure. But the film had nothing new to offer and some otherwise talented actors came off amateurish because of the dreadful script.

maybe you should try and cut down on the movies and get a life?

i also saw it would a large group of friends. plus we were under the influence of something and are all jewish. let me tell you, it was not funny. in fact we walked out, went home, and popped in the entourage dvd. much more gratifying.

Well, I'm not really about to take the view of a guy who boasts that he didn't like a movie when he was on drugs while watching it.

Isn't there something to be said about watching a movie with your head on straight?

This movie was delightful! I loved the life-affirming messages in it. Everyone's side got represented, from the wounded Jeremy Piven to the apologetic Garry Marshall. It was nice to see a movie that depicted people growing in a positive way, instead of movies that make the "fun" out of the acrimony between people. Don't we have enough belligerence in the world already? Do we really need more movies with people being sarcastic schmucks to each other all the way through? No. It's good to have a movie come around once in a while that shows people actually caring enough to make up and love one another.

Perhaps if this film were christian and included lots of lewd and crude humor, these "people" would find it funny. I actually found the movie to be humorous (I am Jewish) and I also thought it had some very sound life lessons in it as well. coming of age doesn't have to be nasty and off-color to be humorous.

reply

Ironically Dlbach those "christian" movies are written by Jewish writers. Look at director and writer credits of late? hardly a gentile allowed anymore, never mind any minorities.

I'm guessing you had a either a part or money in this poor effort. 5/10
