Incredible movie!

Finally saw it today. I can't believe it took so long to get a distributer. It's a brilliant film, brilliantly acted (i've always thought Fanning was a great actress, but in this she was incredible) and in no way more controversial than the likes of Hard Candy, Straw Dogs or Irreversible. If it had got cinema release, which it should have, i reckon Fanning would've got an Oscar nomination.

I agree.
Everyone on this board is an idiot if you ask me.
I actually thought people would praise this movie, but I bet people will praise a movie like "Pinapple Express" or some crap like that.

Well, here I post two years after your original post. I just finished watching this movie, and I can't see why there are so many negative comments on this film! I thought it was absolutely fabulous. Yes, there are anachronisms with Elvis' songs and the cars, but that is NOT the point of the movie.Dakota earned a new level of respect in my eyes.

I saw a ray of hope for the kid as she leaves the dumpster she called home.
I think it's an inspiring film.

Couldn't agree with you more. This movie wouldn't have worked if it were not for the talent of Dakota Fanning. Amazing performance. Great performances all around. Definitely Oscar-worthy. It's a shame the negative publicity for the "controversial" scene cast such a huge cloud over this gem.
