Why would Bosco star in a movie like this

Why would Jason Wiles (Officer Maurice Boscorelli On THIRD WATCH) wanna star in a direct to video movie like this one, he has gotten soo much fame for being Bosco, he should use it to land large movie roles or another TV series not a crap movie that is going nowhere.

reply

Why? Because he believed in the film. He called the casting agent and ASKED to audition for this film. If you haven't seen it, you can't judge his excellent performance.

reply

I really doubt he believed in this crappy direct-to-video schlock. Anyways, i read in zap2it.com that he will be joining the cast of Commander in Chief, a new ABC drama, along with geena davis, donald sutherland, leslie hope, peter coyote and natasha henstridge.

PD: We have no doubt he gave and excellent performance , as he is an excellent actor, but this film garbage is beneath him. He probably needed the money.

reply

Jason Wiles did not need the money. Actors were paid SAG Modified Low Budget scale - $283 per day - and when he heard about the film he called and ASKED for an audition. He was, of course, outstanding, as were all the other actors. Clearly you haven't see it either. He's incredible. You might want to bother to watch a film before you criticize it.

By the way, this film you haven't yet seen won the Critics Choice Award for best feature at the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase.

reply

Wow critics choice award? When will the movie bee in theaters? oh and it's criticize it ,not critize it.

reply

With apologies for the typo (now corrected), the film does not yet have theatrical distribution. However, it is available for sale on the Internet through www.customflix.com, www.evolvefish.com, or directly through www.beholder.com.

Jason Wiles doesn't star in this film, though his role is a fairly major one.

For some people what is important is the message, not the exposure or the money, and from everything I can see, Jason is one of these people. And I'm impressed to see others who would normally be out of reach for an independant film, such as Michael Dorn (Star Trek TNG) and John Dye (Touched by an Angel) also appearantly feel the same way.

I loved watching this film and seeing so many familiar faces. Their involvement took what could have been the usual cheesy, poorly acted low-budget independant film and took it to a level that I believe easily surpasses the typical made-for-TV network/cable movie.

My respect for Jason, Michael, John and every other actor in that film has increased, they have me as a fan from now on. I will make every effort to watch whatever they are involved in.

I'm not even sure why people would get so offended by low-budget films.

The lower budget may have indeed limited the camera works and the choice of filming locations and technical stuff, but it didn't interfere with the acting and directing.

What makes a film good is whether or not it makes me re-examine my own world. It's relevant to the US, especially now.

Americans think Muslims overseas are going out of control and homocidal. But the film reminds us that we shouldn't forget to examine our OWN society, our own religious extemism. We're shocked, but we think on...and we realize that what the film depicts isn't the worst that happens in the name of the God (e.g., Matthew Shepard). And on and on, the thoughts.

It's great. It made me feel deeply. That's what a good film is. Jason Wiles recognized the superb quality of the film. I hope you will too.

reply

Great post. I agree with you 100% The film really makes you examine our own society instead of pointing the finger elsewhere.

Judging by the telivision shlock you seem to enjoy its no wonder you would fail to grok what this movie is about, and why someone would feel so strongly about our first amendmant rights. I've always wondered what kind of desperate for entertainment people keep shows like this going, now thanks to your comment i know.

Jason did an excellent job. he also did this film while "Bosco" was in his coma. if you remember in the poker scene where all the guys are talking jason has a beard and moustache, if you listen to the commentary he was growing that out for when he was coming out of the coma. He reminded me of "bosco" in the end when they were in the van, he was so cute.

It's obvious you haven't seen the film by the way you throw cliches around that have nothing to do with Heart of the Beholder. Or perhaps you saw the first 5 minutes of it...and since it's a thought-provoking masterpiece, you found yourself completely in the dark. My sympathies are with you.
