A bit more complicated?

--maybe spoilerish--

I would've loved to see this movie going deeper than it was. For a moment I thought that Robbie and Chris will develope a strange relationship in which they will find comfort of the events in each other. Then having Robbie doing his best to make Chris testify against his father. And having a bitter ending where we have a dead son, a confused son, a betrayed fatehr... with no more deaths. Nobody being on the winning side... etc.

I hope that by 'strange relationship' you don't mean a romantic one, because that would have been horrible. I can't imagine someone in love and about to be married having his partner murdered and being emotionally available enough to even entertain the thought of falling for anyone else, let alone for the man who he believes murdered his lover.

I thought it was an excellent movie and it managed to surprise me even. I cried so much for Trey, for Trey's mother and for Robbie.

I used to have a , but damnit do I want a !

I wouldn't say romantic but a relationship where you find the strength to be concerned about someone, given what happened to everyone in the story, helping through what seems to be a tough moment. Something like that. And I call it strange just becasue it wouldn't be a common thing.

Okay, so we know we're talking about the same thing now. :)

I have to say that I thought there were no winners at the end of the movie as it was. I mean, justice wasn't really served, was it? One man was dead and his muderer might have been as well, but justice is never really served since the latter's death doesn't bring back the former, and in this case, it wasn't even justice in the sense that the courts are capable of providing. When someone is found guilty of a crime, justice is served in the acknowledgement of society. Here, Robbie doesn't get that. On the contrary, what he gets is the knowledge that the system isn't out there for him, it won't back him up, it won't protect him. It's what he'll do for himself or nothing.

And I couldn't see that son testifying against his father in a million years. It would have been unrealistic to me if he had...

I like your idea, as long as it isn't a romantic relationship but that they are able to get together to deliver justice.
