Lovely and Hideous

I enjoyed this film and was thoroughly entertained by it.

A note about Howling Nightmare and the The Closet: The sequence ‘feels’ unfinished, but in all honesty, we didn’t need more or less. It was a gem the way it was. The acting was superb in this.

I adored the whole thing, Some how, Uncle Munger reminded me of Orville in Children Shouldn’t play With Dead Things.

Groovy Ghoulies Garage was just about the sweetest most nicest nightmares.

Warped was also funny and grotesque. The mother was a hoot. There was not one single redeeming character in it except the cop played by Scott Hanson.

The Sucker was the story that stood out the most. It was stupendous and outrageous, corny and grotesque. From the first time that we are introduced to Donna, she appears to be strong and beautiful with her bow and arrow… some one from a Greek mythos. But that is only on her own dreams. When she wakes up, we see that she is really quite the opposite. Then the way she talks about Roy, the audience is under the impression that he might be more unpleasant than she is. But he isn’t. The first time we are introduced to him, we see that he is a sympathetic coward keeping away from the likes of his wife. The 3 main characters and the idea was like something I expected to read in an old Marvel or Gold Key comic book. I loved it. I suspect that the budget did not permit a CG artist to show Donna getting sucked into the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner blow, but I was glad to use my imagination to see what happened. Besides, we could see from the expression on Roy’s face that it wasn’t pleasant. We also know it wasn’t nice because of Broom’s warning. I am delighted that there was a budget for the fleshy overstuffed costume that Melanie Fry had to wear. It was absolutely perfect. I wonder what the actress could have said about it. It was bulky and probably heavy. It must have been hot for her in that costume with all the fill lights. She probably had to wear the costume while her makeup was being applied.

Some if the stories seem like they were inspired by camp fire stories.

You DID eventually post this as a review, right? Because that's really more where it belongs, since it's not designed to start a discussion about this little lost 'gem.'
