How long do you think it will last?

I like the show, but I have a feeling it won't last very long. I don't know why; I just have a suspicion. What do you think?

I think this show is a hit and will be on for some time now. The comparisons that some people are making to "Sex in the City" doesn't really hold water with me except in a peripheral way in that Jake (Stamos) is a bad boy who has decided he is ready for love. I guess you could also compare it to "Friends" or even to "Kramer", except in this case there is no trumped up reason for the core group to be involved with one another (like living in the same apartment building). They are either friends or co-workers and the show builds on those various dynamics, even on the dynamics of a new-found slightly off-kilter performance artist friend that Jake adds to his life by accident (and because he is basically a decent guy).

With "Jake in Progress", I actually see a show that has a different spin on the genre of the sitcom and might actually bring back this form of comedy, hopefully generating other real entertainment to replace all of the mind-numbing "reality shows" that are saturating the airways.

I think if they really had faith in this show, they wouldn't have thrown it under the bus that is Thursday nights. Can anyone name the last time ABC had a hit show on that night? It seems like it is an interesting show...they should have given it some sort of decent lead-in.

the tag line for the show is 'different sex, same city' or somehting like that. Also, one of the directors was the director of photography from sex and the city. I dont want to say it, but I think this is sex and the city, but for just one guy - damn. And I cant see anything getting good ratings against survivor

I don't think it will get a second season pick-up.

What? The half-deaf giant carrying our fake uncle?

u must be nuts John stamos is awsome with him on the show we got nothing to loose.

I just watched the first episode and I enjoyed it but it looks like it'll be on Thursdays at 8pm which is a bad time for me. Looks like I'll have to tape it!

it should last a while because women watch sex and the city. this is kind of like that, exept it is reaching out to the male audience. more men watch tv than women, so if sex and the city could last for that long, so should this.

I think Jake is a great show. I don't understand why more people aren't watching it. Although when you think about it, ABC buried it all on it's own. First of all it is not an 8:00 show. Second, what network would launch a new show on the toughest night of TV without a high rated lead -in. Third, they have been showing the episodes out of sequence and back to back when they don't really go together. IWell, let's just hope ABC realizes it's mistakes and gives it a second chance on a better night and a better time.

Just kind of curious, as I'm not an American. AFAIK, JIP took over the time slot of Desperate Housewives. Isn't that a pretty good slot? JIP seems to be targeted at female, just like DH. That sounds logical to me.

If you look for some reviews on the net, you may find it interesting that most positive reviews are from female reviewers.

No, it didn't take over Desperate Housewives' timeslot. ABC debuted JIP in DH's timeslot during a break in new episodes. Ever since then it's aired in it's regular timeslot on Thursdays.

I do hope that ABC realizes that shows generally need more than a handful of episodes to establish an audience. This is a very funny, fresh comedy and I really think it could be a hit if given the chance.

Jake has NOT been cancelled yet. Whatever that idiot at Dark Horizons wrote is not true. Let's just hope ABC realizes a good show when they see it and put it on the right time and night .
