Awful

Just abysmal. It takes real talent to take such an interesting and
dramatically rich point in history, an otherwise competent cast, and
make such a complete pigs-ear of a film. The writers for this belong in
Colditz.

LOL. Great one! (The writers for this belong in

It's the only time I ever wanted the Germans to win.

And this was a two parter, right?

This movie was pretty boring.. I dunno, it just didn't seem to flow very well. The characters seem lost, imo.

"The characters seem lost, imo. "

Possibly unsurprising if they were following the script?

I really liked it.

It wasn't anything like Band of Brothers, or Great Escape, but still I thought it wasn't that bad.

Anyway, I'm a pretty simple-minded person and am easily entertained.

Us fighting the nasty Germans again, a couple of escapes, a cutie pie thrown in for good measure, how can you go wrong?

One thing I did notice in favor of the guy who did the casting is that they seemed to have the age of our guys, and the Germans pretty dead on.

They were all really young and they looked it. Many WW II films have guys much too old playing the parts of what were more than likely teenagers and guys in their early 20's.

I was thinking you were going to make an intelligent comment but then no you make a horrible and disrespectful joke instead - shame on you.

ABYSMAL -wish I'd read the board before spending 14.99 on the DVD.
Every cliche in the book (including that one no doubt), some pretty child as lead character, wasted Damian Lewis, fat silly or angry textbook Germans, nothing about the Poles who outnumbered everyone there, etc. I only held on through nearly an hour just for a glimpse of the castle but it was of course underutilized, just brief accidental views. Sheesh. Soap opera dreck.
Read the nonfiction account, and pray for a documentary someday. A fascinating story. HBO? Anyone?

You're right, thank God the survivors of this terrible period of history are probably all dead, especially Pat Reid who so greatly told in his books the story of those terrible moments in which he took part.

As a reviewer wrote here: "It may have been filmed in the Czech and England, but it is an American production, and yet again, they have demonstrated their ability to rewrite history to fulfill their own greedy, empty past. Thanks again Hollywood, for making me sick to my stomach and aching for you not to destroy history, again!"

This movie is despicable, a treason of historical facts, an insult to the guys who had to live this hardship all nations who were part of it.

You do know this is a British film ... produced by Brits with mostly British actors right?

Whatever the film STINKS!

reply

Damian Lewis pretty much carried the movie on his back.
