Off the shelves

I work at a video rental store and we were told that we were not to put out the copy of "Colditz" today and we were to destroy it, I was just wondering if anyone would know why we had to do this.

Wow, I came here to post about the exact same thing!

I went to Hollywood video last night and saw the cover for the DVD on the New Releases shelves. I was so excited that it had finally come to america so I went to the front desk to ask if they had a copy available.

They didn't. Instead, the girl working there took the cover from me and told me that they were actually ordered to destroy it.

The hell? Why?

That's really bizarre. I got it through Netflix. I wonder why they would let it be distributed that way but not in regular brick and mortars.

Well I just rented it from a brick and mortar Blockbuster (aka Lackluster). Don't know whats up with Hollywood video.

Got mine at Blockbuster yesterday.

I've resorted to netflix for this one. I get to see it finally come Thursday!

That's strange to hear! Can anyone ask why it's being take off the shelves?

I just dropped "Colditz" in the drop box over at Blockbuster tonight. At least I got to watch it I guess.. lol.

This is ridiculous. The first two posts were obviously the same person with two different account names. Is it coincidence that the usernames are almost the same? Or that no one else had this problem but them? Some sort of stupid hoax, I say.

reply

You think we're the same person just because we share the same word in our names? Brilliantly deduced, Sherlock.

Bought mine at Price Chopper for 5.95. Until I saw it there, I'd never heard of it.

So did anybody figure out what was up w/ the alleged order to destroy COLDITZ copies? I can't imagine why any company would issue that order, unless it were discovered there were major defects in all copies (mine works fine, though), or a breach of copyright.

I rented a copy from Netflix..works fine..why would they destroy it?

A kindness to those poor blighters who otherwise might waste money renting it, I imagine.

Because it is a CHEAP SOAP-OPERA that is a disservice to those who actually were imprisoned in Colditz Castle.
