Steven Fry....What a performance

Well well this man CAN act!!!

I have always liked Steven Fry as a comedy performer and tv personality but never really thought of him as a real dramatic actor able to lead a film but the man proved me wrong tonight

Maybe this will be his year and we will see more of the serious stuff from him

I hope so

I know what you mean. I'd never seen him in a serious drama before and he really amazed me with his great performance in this. You felt as if he really cared for the boys in his care and the school.

reply

I feel the same he has always been a great actor to me but in terms of serious acting i was worried that he would ruin a great drama but he really was fantastic. proved another string to his bow

reply

You guys must be kidding "never done a serious drama"!

I guess none of you have seen 'Wilde', possibly one of Stephen Fry's best dramatic performances to date!

I know what you mean. I love watching him on QI, so I've never thought of him as a dramatic actor, but he gave a fantastic performance!

Stephen Fry was the saving grace.

It's spelled "liar". I'm not trying to be nasty, I just couldn't help mentioning it.

I have always known that Mr Fry was a great actor, ever since I saw him in the role that only he could have played: Oscar Wilde in, "Wilde". He is really and truly one of the most intelligent people I have ever seen, he just oozes wit, charm, intelligence, sheer bloody cleverness!

Some people have said that he is "smug", but I would defy anyone who thinks this; he shares, and likes sharing the talents he has, and why not? We all could learn so much from him, if only we just listened!

So in short, he is one of the very few people I would actually like to meet.

Regards

P.S. "QI" is fantastic, only he could do it.

Oh Stephen Fry - so intelligent, so intellectual, so this, so that, blah, blah, blah. didn't stop him from going to clink for fraud.

Fantastic performance thought the Acting in this film was superb just the adaptation could have been better....cut so many important characters down or out completly and twisted the story a bit to much away from the book for my liking!

love all

I have the film in my Netflix queue. I am a big fan of Fry. He manages to improve anything he is in.

He's a very gifted actor. Both he and his colleague Hugh Laurie seem to be very talented in botht the comedy and dramatic genres.

Idiots are fun. No wonder every village wants one.

I know what you mean. I've loved Steven Fry since I noticed him in Wilde. Since then, I've seen him in his older stuff like Reginald Jeeves in Jeeves and Wooster and his newer stuff. He's been consistently excellent throughout.

I think he's overlooked by many since he isn't the standard pretty boy. Which is a good thing because those guys tend to have shorter, but more intense, careers than character actors. And character actors can age like normal humans since they don't have to worry about losing their looks.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
