Lesbian storyline

Can anyone who has seen this film comment on the lesbian content. Red Doors received an R-rating, presumably because of it. And I had wanted to take my family to see it, but...what's the extent of the lesbian content in it?

If you're talking about actual kissing/physical contact, there really wasn't much of it. If memory serves, Mia and Julie kiss a couple of times, only one of which was somewhat lengthy and which you understand will lead to anything...

They spend a lot of time together though--and if just the build-up alone can make you uncomfortable...there's a fair amount of it. But that's really the extent of it. Their specific storyline didn't have too much screentime.

The lesbian content is tame. But there are lots of big rubber dildos in the movie.

This is definitely NOT a family film.

I watched it with my 10 year old brother and 15 year old sister, they both loved the movie. If your kids can handle two girls kissing then its fine, I dont get why it got an R.

I think it got the R rating not just because of the lesbian content, but because of the other thematicelements: a father who wants to kill himself. A daughter who is at one point caught with a bunch of dildos...stuff like that. I believe it could have been an easy PG or PG-13 without the lesbian storyline being as strong as it was, and the love scenme, which, while not explicit, went beyond PG.

Thanks for your input!
