Could this movie have had a stupider *beep* ending?

Talk about blatant plot holes. The filmmakers establish salt destroys the zombies and the force behind the film's goings-on. Fair enough. Then at the end, despite the fact that the mother had been salted and the vortex/entity/whatever the hell it was blew up because of the salt, both suddenly reappear. That just completely undermined one of the major plot points of the movie. I'm all for letting villains win occasionally in movies, but, damn, at least don't try to insult my intelligence and throw me a tacked-on ending that makes no logical sense in contect of the broader movie. I can't say I had high hopes for the movie at all given the director's less-than-stellar track record, but what little good I found in it was completely undermined by this sham of an ending.

The rock salt killed the creature, as we saw it explode. We saw the fungus disapparing from the walls of the house. Then, we see mommie acting as evil as ever, because the rock salt didn't kill her, and then we see Jonathan get pulled into the ground. That made no sense, and we can only hope that a sequel to the movie is on it's way to help explain what the hell we all witnessed. They can explain the fungus, the fact that the fungus makes both living and dead people zombies, and they can explain what Bobby Fowler had to do with the plot if the main plot had to do with a fungus that zombifies the living and the dead. Keep an eye out for the sequel because there's GOTTA be one! Or they can sure provide some cliff notes!!!
