Absolutely the Biggest Pile of Crap I've Ever Seen!

I don't know why some people would spend money too see this or even think it's the least bit scary! It was absolutely the funniest horror film I have seen! the whole idea could have been good if the film didn't have such a low budget. Now, normally I absolutely love low budget Bollywood movies, but this one was just terrible... Am I the only one with this opinion?

As far as generic horror movies played on SyFy/Chiller go, it's not awful.

Now...Death Valley: Revenge of Bloody Bill, on the other hand...

I've seen over 700 horror movies and this is one of the better ones. I can tell you over 200 movies which are complete sh-t. I'd give this one a 4/5. It was decent and had humor and some scares. And I didn't have to fast forward it.

If you thought this was one of the best horror movie you'd ever seen, you need to get out more. This was pretty bad. It wasn't the worst id seen but it doesn't even rate a 2/5 from me. Production value was good. The idea had some legs but it was pretty lame. Too much comedy as usual with horror films lately, though this was four years ago. At least it was limited to Crosby and not the whole cast.

Was it played out? Oh yeah. Was it predictable? You better believe it. To be honest, it will be hard to find a so-called "scary" movie at all that I haven't seen already at one point in the film regardless of how new it is. In other words, you can watch, Night of the living dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Fri. 13th, Halloween, and Carrie and see every horror flick since then in one way or another.

Now as for funny? I have to agree: ***SPOILER COMING***** The dinner scene was awesome. You know, when mom makes the soup. Which is the scene that ties in the salt. I have to agree, it was hokey but I got it on a box set for $5.00 at wal-mart. Which in the end means I've spent about 80 cents on it. Worth the price of admission on a cold, rainy day.

I may not have a big tricked out name tag, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I liked it haha.

Where here in a yellow truck a road ahead of us and nothing but opportunities.

I feel the movies main problem stems from the fact that it seems a little schizophrenic - it starts out being a pretty straight forward horror movie, then it moves into black comedy territory, then it just kind of goes, “Eh, whatever” just goes crazy. If the movie would have just went one direction it would have been more enjoyable for me.

My biggest complaint would be that they didn't have the guy who set them up with the house turn out evil or at least related to Bobby. The way he laughed and his mannerisms were just creepy.

reply

Yeah, it's bad.

But I've seen WAAAAAAAAAY worse.

I brought it over to a friend's house, mistaking it for another crappy horror movie. We still thought Mortuary would be crappy anyway. We got so lost and confused. Several times we were like, "...what..."
The end didn't make any sense either. We were pulling each piece from the movie apart and examining it. Most of the stuff we predicted would happen did happen, but there were also things we thought we understood only for it to come back and slap us in the face with a contradiction.
This isn't the worst horror movie I've seen, though. Saint John's Wort has the top spot for that.

Seriously, did anyone start watching this expecting a masterpiece? I bought the 4 film double-sided set knowing I was buying crap because I was in the market for crap. I just finished watching Mortuary, and so far, this set delivers! It's something to put on in the background while you surf the 'net, play computer games, or simply scratch your nuts...

And by the way, how do you get 80 cents per movie out of 4 movies for $5? Think more like $1.25... Still worth it.

Syfy showed this again today. I assume it's because of the October/Halloween season.

I've seen Mortuary a few times. I suppose that I can deal with having it on the TV during a cold, cloudy, rainy Michigan autumn day while I go about my chores. But as a horror flick (IMDB lists this in the categories of Horror, Mystery, Thriller), that I would want to actually take the time to watch, it's awful.

It's weak as a comedy, teen sexploitation flick, horror, mystery, or thriller. The plot, CGI, a lot of the acting... yuck. I'm not sure that the film makers even had a clear idea about what kind of movie they were attempting to create.

And, IMO, it had potential. I haven't checked enough to find out if it's a remake or if it was inspired by the TV version of "A Haunting in Connecticut", which was my first impression. But so much could have been done with this movie. Imagine if they went with a full on horror (I tend to prefer Rosemary's Baby, Gothica, Poltergeist, The Ring, The Strangers and things like that) or gave it a horror/comedy/spoof angle like Shaun of the Dead.

This thing almost has the feeling that they were just making it up as they went along....
