I hate movies with 'surprise twist' endings! (Spoiler)

So, just when you think the kid is safe, he's grabbed by the evil from under the ground. And the mom grabs the little girl. Yeah, after investing 2 hours, I want to see the hero get killed.

That's why i say there has to be a sequel planned.

I watched most of this on the Sci-Fi Channel back in '06 but I had to leave unexpectedly and missed the end. Found it in the bargain bin at Walmart a couple days ago -- I liked what I saw of it and had no prior knowledge that it was Tobe Hooper's, so I thought I'd give it another shot. Turns out, I only missed the opening titles and the very end... and jeez, if I'd seen the last 10 minutes eight years ago, I probably wouldn't have remembered the film fondly. I don't need a happy ending to be satisfied, but at least a logical ending would be nice. Great atmosphere, some really fun performances/moments, passable straight-to-video effects.... but that terrible ending tainted the whole affair.
