Can it be that his technique simply does not work with this subject?

This is my 4th Bela Tarr movie and the first one that seriously disappointed me. More so as i really enjoyed all his movies so far. I don't have a problem with his technique, the long shots, the photography, etc. in fact, i quite like it. But i found The Man from London incredibly boring and painfully slow.

I totally disagreed with other viewers using the same adjectives to describe his other movies, Turin Horse, Damnation and the rest. But this is where i draw the line. Maybe his technique doesn't suit a crime theme? Or it fits better with a plot/non plot where we witness characters and scenarios in real time? when nothing has to happen?

all open to debate of course, but as i said, hated this one.
