SIX years on and still no great realization of this movies 'greatness'

Wonder what the morons who said this was the next 2001 are going to say now.

Of course they are going to spout the BS about how only their pretentious mind can understand this insulting horrid piece of tripe movie and how future generations would appreciate it.

But guess what it has now been SIX years and the fountain is still a bargain bin movie for hipster stoner losers.

Yes, you are totally awesomest

You clearly won, congrats.

Now go ahead and praise Cloud Atlas?

What the heck is it with your weird obsession with this film? If you hate it so much then why bother coming back to these boards AGAIN and AGAIN. You have basically started the same thread over and over again throughout the years. If you don't like the film, that's fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But that's just it, an opinion. It's not a "universal fact". Just because you think this film is "trash" doesn't mean other people have to. I think it's time to let go and move on. And guess what, we really don't care if this film ever becomes or does not become a "great cult classic for the whole world to enjoy". This movie is very popular among art house fans. WE love the film, and that's all that matters. So just let US enjoy the film and move on. Even if you are just a troll, just let it go, breath, relax and move on with your life.

exactly. it's the same for everything, books and movies and music and art and food and weather and ... everything.

thank goodness we're all different because that makes life interesting, and thank goodness we can always find people with similar thoughts to ours so that we're never truly alone.q

"The Fountain" had the most profound effect on me when I saw it the first time. Subsequent viewings have done nothing to diminish that impact.

I am no hipster, no stoner and certainly not a loser, so I am not offended by your statement.

In fact, I think it's sad that you need to come here and insult people whose taste disagrees with yours. What makes you so angry? Perhaps some self-reflection will help you get over your apparent need to be "right" about things.

The world simply is. Our reactions to it reveal at least as much about us as they do about the experience.

All Art is pretense.

Hear, hear Chuck! I've seen the movie quite a few times now and it gets me everytime. There's probably no use asking what makes the OP angry...probably just looking to get a rise out of fans.

Thought this was actually better than 2001, although I like both films very much.
The fact that you would actually waste your precious time creating such a thread tells me that you should probably look for better things to do with your life.

lol sounds like someone troll you hard sir or ma'am. I think the reason it hasn't caught on is because the interesting parts in the movie were only part of a book Izzi wrote. Cloud Atlas is kind of like this movie, but way better. I hear people talk about it every once and while.

Ten years on ... and this review by Devin Faraci in 2006 still strongly resonates with me --
