Reptile eyes

Did anyone else notice that at the end when Hugh's monk character Tom is staring at the nebula right before it goes supernova - his eye's are reptile slits?

Here's a screen shot:

Isabel's character says many times to Tom that "I will be your Eve" - perhaps over the eons without his Eve, Tom has turned into the serpent at the Tree of Life?

reply

I thought that was just a reflection of something in front of him.

reply

I thought they were cat eyes, but you are right, they could also be reptilian.

It's just a reflection, sorry.

The two white spots in his eye are a result of a (or two) lightsource (as the spots clearly aren't the same color as the iris), giving the appearance of a narrow pupil.

You're right. On the documentary found on the DVD, Hugh Jackman is shown applying special contacts for this scene. As for the meaning of his transformed eyes or the filmmakers intentions, no explanation is given nor have I heard any from any outside source.
