Is it ever explained why they have premonitions?

Every character sees their death before it happens ( only seen up until three so I assume the other ones after are the same) so why do they all of a sudden have the ability to see into the future. Wouldn't that piss off death because it disrupts his plan? It would actually be interesting to know if something else is helping them which is why they have the permissions.

It's not really explained, but I think it's simply a case of everyone's fate being already decided (hence why there's always supposed to be signs hinting towards how people are going to die in Final Destination) so what's going to happen next is already out there, and the main characters see it early for some reason (which I don't have an explanation for). I guess the main characters are just more in tune with it, while normal people (the other characters) will just maybe notice a sign that everyone can see or hear, before they die.

I don't know how many Final Destination fans are familiar with it, but their is a programme in the UK called Jonathan Creek, and there is one episode; The Eyes of Tiresias which contains a line that basically describes what I am trying to say (except the episode is specifically about "dreams" and not "visions"). My comment is currently easy to see, but the scene is at 25:44 to 25:53. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWCdlT15Kco

Alternatively it is possible, that Death is giving the premonitions for... some reason? Like a game of something? And the way they die at the end (or between movies) was always how they were meant to die after all, based on the ending of The Final Destination, but that may have been a last minute choice, because that movie was meant to end differently and that idea may only apply to that movie.

I just watched the first three back-to-back and was wondering the same thing (I also saw the fourth one years ago).

Another poster pointed out one possibly: The person who has the premonition is simply more sensitive to spiritual realities.

Expounding upon this theory, since death is one of the greatest tools of the devil according to the bible (Hebrews 2:14), it could be argued that an angel provides the 'vision' to the sensitive individual so as to thwart the enemy's design, keeping in mind that angels are "ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation," meaning people (Hebrews 1:14).

Before any sourpuss responds with disgust for my citing the bible (rolling my eyes), the OP asked a valid question about the movie and I'm simply offering a possible explanation from a biblical perspective. No one has to accept it or agree with it. It's all conjecture anyway because neither this movie nor the first two explain WHY the protagonists have premonitions about an oncoming tragedy.
